Hey guys,

Sorry for the lack of updates. But as usual, I’ve been neck-deep in workload.

Haven’t had the time to make a comic strip, because I’ve been helping out with the Bionexus Partnership launching (and announcement of the Malay Genome) event here at the lab / UiTM Puncak Alam.

I was given the task to make the gift for the deputy prime minister, as well as work on/help out with the montage for the event itself.

It was my first time doing the voiceover for an official video. Had to control macho nih. Haha.

And here’s the artwork that I made exclusively as a gift for the Timbalan Perdana Menteri:-

Oh kantoi Prof. Zaki (reflection on the left) taking a photo of the artwork. He’s my co-super, so I’ll let it slide. Lol. My colleague, Rose is on the right. She helped out with the construction/maintenance of the Malaysian Genome Browser. #Bangga

Artist’s comments:-
The artwork basically shows a few DNA strands coming together to form a human being. It shows that we (living organisms) are all a construct of our own unique genetic information, which is composed of the four nucleotides; A, G, C, and T.

By sequencing and understanding our genomic information, we can better understand how we function, and also we will be able to produce more efficient medication.

Sequencing the Malay genome is just the beginning. There is still a lot of research to be done. The guys working on human genome projects will be freakin busy from now on. I’m studying bacterial genome, so lain citer la. Ekekeke~.

I’ve been preoccupied with a lot of things lately. Most of which are related to the lab. And I’ve been getting daily headaches, which mess up my productivity.

This is pretty much how my weeks go:

So yeah, I’d be spending each day getting pummeled by my constant headaches.

However, my supervisor here at the lab was kind enough to get something to help me deal with my brain cramps. Maybe I’ll blog about it in more detail later. :3

These past few months, I’ve been EXTREMELY preoccupied with my studies. I’m doing my Master by research, and this means that I have to do A LOT MORE…more…more reading than before.

No worries though. I like it. Even though it drains the life out of me. And who knows, after this, I’ll go for my PhD. And then I’ll upgrade to Dr.Kyo. Ekekeke~.

UiTM emailed my exam results. And here’s how I reacted to it:

My chemistry paper was 4 credit hours. The others were only 2, 3 credit hours. Since my chemistry result was so horrible, my GPA got dragged down, regardless of the A’s I have.

THAT SUCKS.

I’m glad that I didn’t fail the paper. But I am absolutely annoyed that my GPA suffered so much because of 1 paper. And, I missed my last chance to get on the Dean’s List…

Now, it’s 2011, and I’m now 24-years old. So, I present to you, 24 recollections of the past year (2010-2011).

Went for my first sample-collecting trip.

Both studying Biomolecular Sciences. But I still pwn them at being an uber-nerd. Aha!

Handled the multimedia stuff for Carnival Sains & Teknologi (Castech). Oh, and made the multimedia presentation for the event.

Tried doing a Gram staining procedure outside of the lab. Using a lighter, mind you. It worked! I was epic impressed. Lol.

My wacom doesn’t agree with the other electronics on my desk. Had to resort to old school methods for comic blogging.

Went to Sungai Tekala after my exams. Made a short video of it.

I had an awesome time doing my Degree. I met amazing people, made wonderful friends, and had plenty memorable moments. And that includes the massive amounts of stress that I had to go through.

Finally, after weeks of planning and hard work, we finally managed to pull our program off. Even though we had a few problems along the way, I still think that BioVille was a relatively enjoyable event.

There were A LOT of hiccups while planning and carrying the program out. To my juniors and friends who went to BioVille (and the ones who are reading this post), I apologize on behalf of the AJK for giving you guys so much trouble.

I spent 2 weeks going about UiTM to gather the individual parts for the video. And in those 2 weeks, I have gotten to know my predecessors. A feat that I don’t think I would have been able to do if I hadn’t come up with the idea for the lip syncing collaboration.

I’m glad that the future of the BioMolecular Association (BioMass) will be in their hands when we (the seniors) graduate.

I can’t contribute much. This video, and the good times we had while making and watching it is all I have to offer. This may be my final contribution to BioMass, to my juniors, my lecturers, and the staff members. So, I wanted it to be memorable. :)

You guys are amazing. And I hope all of you had a great time.

A few days ago, I was minding my own business. Then, suddenly, I felt a discomfort in my stomach. And then I barfed.

Gross.

I had food poisoning~. Yay. Sick.

Kouda Entry_206: Headphones

Astaga, I haven’t drawn a comic in ages. Took me a while to figure out what to draw a comic about.

But finally, I came up with something! Whee~!!

My old headsets are busted. So, I needed to look for new ones. That is, one for indoors, and one for outdoors. So…

I don’t like crowded areas and all the noise that’s they’re making. It makes me uncomfortable.

I’d normally wear a headset to help me ignore the noise. Which is why I need to get new ones.

Anyway~, while I was walking around, there were a bunch of people around me. And some of them decided to loudly joke around, giggle, and laugh. Which made me more uncomfortable.

And I wasn’t in the mood to be patient…

Well, that didn’t really happen. But, I was seriously annoyed by all the noise.

Good thing I’d already gotten what I was looking for by the time all the bloodshed…i mean laughing occurred. So, I hightailed out of the mall.

Okay, so I guess it’s not their fault, since they’re just enjoying themselves. But still, it’s insanely annoying when someone laughs their head off while standing 2 inches behind you.

Yea well, these were made using pen n paper, then scanned and photoshopped. My Wacom is still throwing tantrums. Mebbe Acer and Wacom don’t go along kot. Deng.

The pen/marker I’m using isn’t all that good, since it leaves blotches all over the paper. Sucks.

So, I’ll have to go look for a better pen one of these days.

Kouda Entry_196: Under Construction

Hey guys, just a little update to show that I am not “completely” ignoring this blog.

Sorry to say, it’s a little hard for me to draw strips lately, since this happened:

My gloves are mutilated!! I can’t draw properly since my hands have uh…relatively active sweat glands *embarrassed* lol. That, added with the uber scorching weather we’re having…makes it difficult for me to do a lot of hand-related stuff. DX

So, instead, I’ve decided to work on something that doesn’t require a wacom; editing the blog’s layout. I’m sure you guys have noticed a very slight change in the current layout.

Well, I switched back to the TicTac template (since it’s easier to edit) and modified the html (and graphics) to appear like the previous theme (…a bit).

Bad News: A while back, Blogspot upgraded to some sort of xhtml format, which I am COMPLETELY unfamiliar with. So, my html editing skills just levelled down by a bunch. Sucks.

Good News: This template is still way easier to edit than the previous theme that I used. So, I’ll be able to make changes to the layout more often (Maybe add a little color to this watered-down blog) like I did during my non-comic-blogging days.

Hey~, been a while since I saw a whole heap of text in this blog. Whee~!!!

So, basically, KYO GOTS NO GLOVES, SO HE CAN’T DRAW. *sad face* Curse my hands for being so manja.

Honestly, I can draw using the Wacom without gloves, but I’m afraid it might ruin it’s shiny outer plate (I sayang my gadgets okeh. Haha).

Sorry guys, I haven’t been able to devote myself to this blog lately. I got a huge amount of work that needs to be done.

You know how it is. Everyday, it’s “I got something due tomorrow”. For the love of God, something is always “due tomorrow”. How the hell am I supposed to do anything else!?

So yea, right now, I have to dedicate all of my limited attention span to this uber-important research proposal. That and a series of other assignments and a list of tests.

Also, thanks to that slight hiccup in my immune system, I ended up being one week behind in my work. NOT HELPFUL.

I spent all night doing this presentation, and it turns out it didn’t answer the given question. So yes, I deprived myself of sleep nothing. But at the very least, my lecturer’s giving us a second chance. Meaning I get to deprive myself of more sleep.

Aite, that’s it. I need to get back to work. Sorry, no comic strip this time.

Convo (Part 2): Series of Problems

I was determined to make it a good day! Heck, I wasn’t going to let my one day of triumph be marred by lack of sleep.

Lol. Went all out planning ni.

It was probably a miscommunication or whatever. But, my stress level was already reaching dangerously high levels.

It took me a while to find my sister though. There were huge masses of people everywhere! But, I managed to find her after a while.

I know la, it’s just a packet of facial tissues. But it was just so sweet ^_^. Thanks, sis!

After that was well and done, I had to quickly rush back to the gathering area immediately.

But then, I nearly had a heart attack when I saw that they had already started to line up.

Had to rush and look for my spot in line. I was seriously hoping that it’s not too far off.

But then, one of the people in charge asked me to put on my robe and mortar board. (I didn’t want to run around with those on)

That’s when I realized…

And then my stress level increased a bit more. Lol.

It was already a hectic start to my convocation day. But I was still determined to make it a fun day!

But little did I know, a lot of crap was still waiting for me… Haih…

Yosh! I finally finished sketching the blog entry for my convocation!!

Due to the amazingly huge amount of shitty things that happened on that day, the blog entry turned out VERY long. 45 panels of comic strips! Gilaks.

So, I’ve decided to divide the entry into 3 parts. And here’s the first:

Convo (Part 1) : The Day Before

All of us were excited about the big day. After all, we spent 3 years studying our asses of to get our diplomas.

I wanted to finish my assignments that night. So that I could fully enjoy my convocation day and no studies-related stuff would get in the way.

But then my computer started to be a real beyotch. Lol.

It was really annoying!!! My Dell kept crashing over and OVER again!!
Tension!!

And then, around midnight, a friend of mine came over to give me the material for ANOTHER group assignment.

But in the end…

I ended up having to stay up all night to finish the assignment.

Not only that, I had to use my roommate’s laptop because mine kept throwing tantrums.

O wow, it's been almost a month since I last posted something. A lot of things happened, really, but the mood to blog about em never really sank in.

i.e. Kyo was being uber lazy. Akaka.

So, a few weeks back, I joined this competition (Festival Tari 2009) under UiTM's group, "Prisma Seni". (Trust me, I never expected myself to join a group like that, but hey, shit happens. Lol.)

Seriously though, they're a fun bunch to hang out with. I'm more than glad I joined.

Anyways, the competition was held in UKM, which means all of us had to stay there for a few days.

And when we got there, we had loads of fun ^_^.

But of course, we all know that Murphy's Law is always going about and screw with me, kan?

Well, it's the title for my new wallpaper, really. I didn't wanna use "heart" cuz it'd be too corny.

"Soul" is still corny, I know, but way less jiwang than "Heart", okeh. Now shuddup. Lol.

I was actually watching The Fray's "Heartless" music video. And it gave me an idea; It'd be hella kool to have custom doodles for a wallpaper.

Now I know what you're thinking; "stop posting artworks and do more comic strips!".

But too bad, my blog, my choice of time-wasting images. XD

Initially, I did plan on posting a strip. But I saw a sketch I did I while back (which I planned on coloring but never got to it), so I decided to work on it instead. Keke.

This is why I love emotions. The very source of inspiration when it comes to scribbling using photoshop. Woot!

Not the most original idea, I guess. Since, I did draw something similar to this a few years ago. But that one involved a crucifix. So I guess this one is more suitable for the less liberal audience. XD

Also, was trying out a new coloring style. I cleaned out a lot of the rough sketch lines. And no inking was done whatsoever.

Not the best result. But, it's all about experimenting after all kan~. Keke.

Kouda Entry_175: UiTM and H1N1 (Part 2)

These rumors have been going about lately. And it would be wrong for me to not make use of the obvious blogging material. Keke.

Yes, a lot of kids have been speculating if UiTM is going to close down for a whole month (which IMO is uber ridiculous).

But, UiTM (for once) is being efficient and has posted an announcement on the official website; http://www.uitm.edu.my.

And this is what is written:

The University Remains Open
University Teknologi MARA remains open and is operating on a regular schedule. All classes are in session and student, faculty and staff are expected to report for work as normal. The mid-semester and final examinations will also proceed as planned. Students are urged not to listen to rumours and if in doubt, to refer to the university website which is the primary source for announcements on university affairs.

Kouda Entry_174: CRASH!

O wow, it's been ages since I updated!!! And a lot of (not really lol) people have been telling me to blog about the accident that I was in about 2 weeks ago.

Thanks to a relatively boring C++ class I had this afternoon, I finally got the inspiration to draft an entry about it! Yayzandwootz!

If you've read my previous post, then you'd know that UiTM had an all-out (failed) H1N1 prevention strategy; giving the students a week off. If you haven't, you can read it by clicking here.

So, basically, I went back with my brother, Riz, in his Viva. The initial plan was to leave for Kota Bharu at about 3pm. But he got caught up in his work, and we ended up leaving at 9.30pm instead.

I know, 6 hours late. But meh, I wasn't the one driving, so I didn't make a fuss. Biasa la, Kyo yang tidak komplen terlebih banyak. Sikit2 suda. Lol.

And this is what went down:

UWAAAAAAAAGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

CRASH~!!!!

The car actually rolled a few times. I'm not really sure, but it felt like it flipped at least 2 times. Beats any roller coaster ride, I'll tell ya that.

Seriously, it's amazing the windshield didn't shatter. If it did, god forbid where those shards might've gone. I definitely wouldn't want my face all embedded with pieces of glass. Gross... ~_~

The car is absolutely trashed. But me and my brother actually only got a few cuts and bruises.

Uh, actually Riz had a fractured rib. I guess it's because the car dropped on the driver's side. So, he got more out of the force than I did.

Kyo's had his first NEAR DEATH experience~! OMG!

"NEAR" lol.

Honestly, it did cross my mind. That pitch black nothingness that comes after you die... Dude, that made me grab on to dear life like a fat kid holding a candy cane.

I was surprised that Heaven / Hell never made it through my senses at the time. My brain jolted at the idea of that pitch black thing. I guess I'm just not ready to even think about those two just yet.

I was actually screaming in my head "DON'T DIE", instead of "I don't want to die". It's generally the same thing. But less pathetic la IMO. Kekeke.

Mom and Dad were strangely calm though. And by calm, I mean they didn't scream their heads off at us. Which is kool. Whew.

I actually asked myself after cleaning myself up;

"Would anyone even miss me if I actually died?"

"Would anyone even think of me after I'm gone for good?"

Shit...that's messed up...

But seriously, why is everyone so perky and happy that they get to go balik kampung?

I was actually hesitant about going back. Because I don't wanna end up spreading the virus all over Kelantan.

But, apparently, I have to go back to fix my digicam (warranty is back in Kelantan), and grab some of my study notes. Oh well.

In my previous entry, I said my dad gave me reason to be pissed. That's because he's making me buy my train ticket manually. As in I have to go all the way to sentral to buy it, instead of buying it online.

But now, I've decided to go back by car. Less exposure to people, thus less probability of getting H1N1. I'm not spending 12+ hours in a sealed hollow metal tube with a bunch of god knows how many people. Hish.

Dunno when I'm going back yet. Still thinking it over.

Actually, I was planning on seeing someone during the one week holiday...

Aaaghh!! It's been so hard to update lately! I keep getting interrupted whenever I try to sit down and draw some new comic strips.

And I think Sen isn't too happy about that...

I'm trying to juggle studying and blogging. And with my short attention span, it ain't all that easy y'all. XD. I wish I was dedicated like Miao.

I know I can just make a text-only blog entry, but I know you guys want strips kan~. Lol.

Plus, I've been getting these headaches for 3, 4 days straight. My theory is that it's due to my lack of sleep. My body is getting too manja la. Bankai.

Kouda Entry_170: Kyo is Flustered

I know, I know, I need to stop being so lazy and get back to blogging.

Even Shakir is telling me to get off my lazy ass and start drafting. I guess I got myself somewhat of a manager now. XD

I've already moved into my new flat~. And even though it's a bit under-furnished, at least I have this now:

Yay~! A slightly better (and a whole lot messier) workspace~!

I got a new writing table 2, 3 days ago. But I still need to get things straighten up before I can start using it. So, for now, Kyo is sitting on the floor.

The new semester already started, by the way. And I'm all flustered and frustrated by all the scheduling and study plans.

And I can't even blogdraft in peace!! Every single time I start to draft an entry, something always comes up. Seriously! It's like the whole world is against me updating. And I am not using this as an excuse.

Oh, oh, I found out that an old friend of mine, Lokman is doing a degree here in UiTM Shah Alam! And he's staying in the flat above mine no less. Lol.

Haven't seen him since UiTM Sabah. Which is about 3 years. Seriously, the guy hasn't changed the slightest. Har har.

That's it for this entry. Now I have to go do the laundry, straighten up the room, do some revisions for my Gene Expression class, eat, finish up my registrations, buy some text books, pay the rent, plan my budget, and draft the next entry. To the batmobile!

Geez, I haven't been blogging much this month.

Good news is, Kyo is up and running. The headaches are gone, and I'm feeling as healthy as ever (which isn't really all that healthy, but whatevs. Lol).

Bad news is, I'm staying at my sister's place at the moment. The place I'm renting is still extremely under-furnished. And there's a problem with the plumbing.

Oh, and lookie:

Yup, that's my "workspace". Ok, it's not really all that bad. Heck, it's pretty comfortable staying at my sister's place.

What makes it bad is the fact that I can't draw comic strips without a proper table. But, I'm sure I'll improvise sooner or later.

That's right, no comic strip this time. Quit your whining. XD

I promise I'll do my best get another strip done within this week. Sen and Garr must be dying of boredom by now. Lol.

Sorry guys. Haven't been feeling all too perky lately. So, it's kinda hard to draw up some comic strips.

Instead, I grabbed my pencil and scribbled away. It's been a while since I made some sketches, anyway. Was worried I might be getting rusty. And I think I am.

Lol straightforward title. Dunno lah. My enthusiasm's hitting an all-time low. The fact that I keep sitting in front of my PS2 / PS3 instead of blogging is a big assed proof.

I am sooooo glad that I finally get to type on my laptop after a 3-day computer-less trip. I am NEVER leaving my Dell again!!!

O gawd I missed the feel of the keyboard at the tip of my fingers.

I could've blogdrafted a few entries while on the road. But no~, Kyo had the brightest idea of leaving his Dell behind. Bodo. I'm sorry la, I think my brain stroke off when I was packing.

Kouda Entry_164: The Tweeting Bandwagon

As some of you might notice, I added a new widget on the sidebar. Which means that Kyo has officially joined the Twitter bandwagon.

Well, not really lah. I just decided to use it as my blog's status update thingy. So you guys would know when I'm blogdrafting a new post, or when I'm out of ideas. Lol.

I'll mainly use the Twitter for blog updates and stuff. I'm not going to immerse myself into the Twittersphere.

Why? Because like most social sites, Twitter is bound to be replaced by a more advanced site. Like Friendster, Myspace and god knows what else.

So until I find a better way to post my simple updates, I'll stick with Twitter.

Kouda Entry_163: Good News / Bad News

First thing's first. I was photoshopping around, trying to make a new profile pic for this blog. But what I ended up with won't fit into the 200pixel sidebar.

So instead, I used it as my deviantart profile picture. But for the sake of being a whore, I'll post it here too. XD.

Failed effect. I gave up halfway through. As usual. Lol.

At any rate! Good news:

My Taekwondo instructor gave me my new belt last Friday~!!!

Obviously the one on the left is the new one. ^_^

Bad news:

I was being a smartass a few days ago and tried to update my PSP's software on my own.

AND NOW IT CAN'T READ ISO FILES!!! O nooooooeeeessss!!!!!

In layman's terms, Kyo can no longer play cheap pirated games on his PSP. i.e. my PSP just devolved into the world's most expensive doorstop.

Ah well, at least that zombie grape will have something to eat. Goodbye cruel world!

Been having...weird dreams lately. Like, seriously.

A few nights ago, I dreamt about this little grape that was jumping around all happy. Actually, there were a bunch of little fruits, but I only remember the grape. Lolz.

And suddenly, the grape's skin ripped open, and started to munch on other fruits! Oh le horrorz!

Imagine this thing jumping around and gnawing on your head!

Kouda Entry_160: Kyo At The Beach

Hehe, sorry for the lack of updates, guys. I've been a bit preoccupied with Eye-strains, and a few...uhh...emotional situations. ^_^;; Ah well, blogging material for another day.

It's been a while since I actually set foot on a beach.

A friend of mine (and his army of friends) came to KB recently for some sort of program. Lively bunch, if I do say so myself. XD.

He invited me to tag along, but I was a bit reluctant...at first:

Wtf?... Well, it didn't exactly go like that. But you get the idea...don't you?

But it was fun. And I got to be the cameraman. OMG my first time holding a fancy big ass digital camera (like the ones those photographers use)! Apa lagi, Kyo all out la snapping pictures. Har har har!

Being the cameraman does have its downsides. Like "I'm not in any of the pictures". Lol. Hope I did an okay job taking their pictures.

Kouda Entry_158: Angels & Demons Review

Aite, let's get crackin!

It's been about 5 days since I watched the preview screening. And the movie has premiered all over Malaysia. So, I guess it's safe for me to post my thoughts on it.

Here's a list of the pros and cons of the movie:

1> The CG was superb.
The animation on how the Anti-Matter was formed, the Anti-matter's appearence, the explosion, they were all amazing. Kyo loves the fluid motion of the particles.

2> The occasional humor was nicely done.
Good timing. Not overly comical, just like the book itself.

3> Tom Hanks got a haircut. Thank God.
Rejoice people. The hair is much better this time around. No more latino hunk wannabe. XD

4> The Soundtrack was just "OMG!".
No, seriously. OMG! Download!

5> Ewan McGregor did a splendid job as the Camerlengo.
Obi-Wan always did look good in a robe. It wasn't a surprise that he easily pulled off the part as the hopeful priest. Too bad about the ending though.

1> Not that much CG was used.
Although the CG was great, there weren't that many in the movie. Unlike The Da Vinci Code, where they showed a bunch of fancy effects to visualize Robert Langdon's thoughts and explanations. I WAN CG!!

2> Tom Hanks in swimming briefs.
O_o Le Horrorz!!! Think about the children!!!

3> They changed part of the storyline!!
I mean MUTILATED it!!! Wtf I was looking forward to the ending, but they butchered it. Fuk! Whyyyyy~!!!???

4> No Illuminati Diamond!!!
Instead we get a pair of keys. Nothing more controversial than a couple of keys, eh... (ok la, maybe the whole diamond wouldn't fit on someone's chest. But still).

5> The duration of the chase was unsatisfactory.
It takes Langdon 5 minutes to get from one statue to the other. Not enough time for the suspense to sink in. It's as if they barely had any trouble figuring out the clues.

Overall, I think people who haven't read the book would probably enjoy this movie.

Since I read the book, I had a some expectations which were never met by the movie. Haih... sedikit kecewa la this.

Still a good movie. If you find The Da Vinci Code a good watch, then you should give this one a shot.

Kouda Entry_157: At The Premiere

I wish I could've blogged about this sooner. But I didn't have my laptop with me when I went to KL.

I've managed to update my Facebook status by using Reza's Blackberry and Azi's Nokia 5800. Hish, I should get a phone with a wireless. Lol.

at 1:27 am!?

Now that it's already the 17th, and the movie officially premiered for the whole of Malaysia to see, I can write an all-out "review" of it. Har har.

But first, OMG Kyo must tell what happened at the premiere!!

Azi and I were just chatting away, waiting for the movie to start. I think we annoyed a few people, but whatevs, we were bored. Lol. (Sorry lah ^_^;;)

And then Josh (one of the advertlets people) said a few words. He started to announce the winner of the blogging competition.

But little did I know, there was one category that I never knew existed:

I was shocked and nervous. Lol.
Didn't expect my name to be said out loud for everyone to hear.

I didn't even know that there was a "Most Creative Post" category. XD

Good thing Miao didn't join in on the competition. He'd pwn my ass in a heartbeat. Lol.
